Dog Bites Off Owner’s Arm; Spokane Police Investigates Death After Welfare Check

Spokane Police are investigating after a man was found deceased inside a residence in the 3900 block of North Wall Street on Saturday. The discovery was made after a caller requested a welfare check on their father, whom they had been unable to contact.

Emergency crews arrived on scene and located the man deceased inside the home. Spokane Fire personnel confirmed the death upon arrival. Police said the circumstances surrounding the death are unusual and are currently under active investigation.

According to initial reports provided over emergency communications, the man appeared to have a significant injury to one arm. Early indications suggest that the injury may have occurred after death and may have involved the household dog. Police emphasized that a full medical examination will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

At this time, officials have not released the name of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin. Detectives and forensic teams continued processing the scene into the evening.

Police state that there is no indication of a threat to the public, and the incident is believed to have occurred within the residence.
