The South Windsor community is mourning the loss of Associate Principal Tim Zeuschner, a respected educator and dedicated mentor who passed away following a medical emergency on Thursday evening, according to his family. His death has left students, colleagues, and longtime friends deeply saddened.

Mr. Zeuschner served the South Windsor School District for more than two decades, earning widespread respect for his leadership, professionalism, and genuine care for the students he worked with. Before stepping into administration, he taught history for over 28 years, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. In total, he devoted more than three and a half decades to education.
In August 2019, Mr. Zeuschner assumed the role of interim associate principal at South Windsor High School. He officially became an associate principal in June 2020. From the beginning, he was known for his calm presence, thoughtful decision-making, and unwavering commitment to student well-being. Students often described him as “kind,” “approachable,” and “someone who always listened.”
Throughout his years in education, Mr. Zeuschner worked as a teacher, advisor, administrator, and school leader. Colleagues say he was someone who led with heart, always placing students’ needs and growth at the center of his work. His passion for learning and community-building extended far beyond the classroom walls.
“He was the type of educator who made everyone feel seen and valued,” one colleague shared. “His impact will be felt for years to come.”
Outside of school, Mr. Zeuschner was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Family members described him as compassionate, thoughtful, and deeply dedicated to those he loved.
The district is expected to offer support services for students, staff, and community members as they process the loss.
