Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia announced the heartbreaking death of his baby daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia, on Friday. The child passed away on October 26, shortly after birth.

In an emotional Instagram post, Vesia wrote, “Our beautiful daughter went to heaven on Sunday, October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”
Vesia had taken a leave of absence from the Dodgers shortly before the World Series, which began on October 23, to be with his family during this difficult time. The team honored him and his family during the Fall Classic, with both the Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays wearing hats featuring Vesia’s jersey number, 51, sewn onto the side.
The pitcher, known for his pivotal role in the Dodgers’ bullpen, expressed gratitude for the support from his teammates, the organization, and fans as he navigates this personal tragedy.
This loss comes as a reminder of the fragility of life, even amid the excitement and intensity of professional sports, and has drawn an outpouring of support from the baseball community and beyond.
