A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot on Manley Road in Huyton on Friday evening, according to Merseyside Police.
Police say the incident was reported at approximately 8:50 p.m. on 7 November, when emergency services were called to the scene. The victim was found with gunshot wounds to his back and leg outside a residential address. Paramedics transported him to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
A police cordon has been placed around the area as officers conduct house-to-house inquiries and review CCTV footage in an effort to identify those responsible. Forensic teams have also been present throughout the night.
Chief Inspector Andy Hughes described the shooting as deeply concerning and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“We are still in the very early stages of an investigation and we are determined to find the person or people responsible,” Hughes said. “A young man is currently in hospital with significant injuries and I’m sure the community will be utterly appalled at what has happened this evening.”
He added that the incident took place in a residential area where witnesses may have seen or heard something significant.
“I want to reassure local residents, as well as the wider Merseyside, that we are taking this incident extremely seriously and we are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime,” Hughes said. “If you have CCTV or dashcam footage, please let us know if you captured anything. Even the smallest of details could prove vital in our investigation.”
