The Opelousas community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Sonya Davis, 52, who tragically passed away in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday, November 5, in St. Landry Parish.


Louisiana State Police Troop I reported that troopers responded to Highway 754 near Jessie Richard Road around 7 a.m., where Davis’s vehicle, for reasons still under investigation, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Ford F-150. Davis, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F-150 sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Troopers continue to investigate, including collecting toxicology samples.
