Heritage High School was placed on an immediate lockdown Thursday morning following what officials described as an emergency situation on campus.
According to the Menifee Police Department, officers responded to the school shortly after receiving a report of an active incident. Details regarding the nature of the emergency have not yet been released, and it is not currently known whether there are any injuries.
Police are urging the public to avoid the area while the situation is being managed. Parents have also been asked not to come to the campus at this time in order to allow emergency personnel to operate without obstruction.
“Heritage High School is currently on lockdown. We are asking everyone to stay clear of the area while we investigate and ensure the safety of students and staff,”
the police department said in a statement.
School officials have confirmed that students and staff have been instructed to remain inside classrooms and secure areas until law enforcement gives clearance. Teachers have been advised to follow standard safety protocols.
