ORANGE, Texas — A 36-year-old Orange man died following a shooting at the Velma Jeter Manor apartment complex on Allie Payne Rd Tuesday night, according to police.
Officers responded to the apartment complex at around 9:30 p.m. after witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots. Police arrived to find the man dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Orange County Precinct Three Justice of the Peace Joyce Dubose Sulton pronounced him dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy.
Witnesses told a 12News crew there was a disturbance before the shots were fired, though police have yet to confirm more details.
The Orange Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting. No arrests have been announced. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
