Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly crash that occurred Monday on State Road 69, just south of Interstate 64, in Posey County. The Posey County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 48-year-old Brent Cooper of Terre Haute, Indiana, was pronounced deceased at the scene following the tragic collision.

According to initial reports, Cooper was driving southbound on SR 69 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a semi-truck traveling in the opposite direction. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
Emergency responders arrived promptly, but despite their efforts, Brent Cooper succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the semi-truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.
The highway remained closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigators from the Posey County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police began examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
