Two Men Found Shot to Death Inside Car in DeKalb County, Police Investigating Double Homicide

A tragic discovery in DeKalb County has left residents shaken after police found two men dead inside a car on Monday evening. The DeKalb County Police Department confirmed the incident occurred in the 3600 block of Shepherds Path, a residential area off Covington Highway, just after 4 p.m.

Authorities said officers were dispatched following reports of a person shot. When they arrived at the scene, they found a parked vehicle with two unresponsive men inside. Upon closer inspection, officers determined that both victims had sustained gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

The area was quickly cordoned off as homicide detectives and crime scene investigators began processing the scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses. Several residents reported hearing what sounded like gunfire earlier in the afternoon before police arrived.

“Officers located two deceased adult males in a vehicle. Both appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds,” the department said in a brief statement. “At this time, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.”

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to positively identify the victims and notify their families. Police have not yet released their names or any potential motive behind the shooting.

Residents in the normally quiet neighborhood expressed shock and concern over the discovery. “It’s heartbreaking,” one neighbor said. “We heard sirens and saw police everywhere — it’s scary to know something like this happened right here.”

As investigators continue their work, detectives are reviewing nearby surveillance footage and speaking with community members in hopes of gathering information about any suspicious activity or vehicles seen in the area before the shooting.

Authorities have not said whether they believe the incident was targeted or random, but they are urging anyone with information to contact the DeKalb County Police Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.

This marks yet another violent incident adding to a growing number of gun-related deaths in the metro Atlanta area this year. Local leaders and community advocates continue to call for action to address gun violence and strengthen neighborhood safety.
