The Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal hit-skip crash involving a pedestrian that occurred earlier this morning, October 24, on State Route 125 near mile marker 16 in Jefferson Township, Brown County.

Caleb Holbert Car Accident
The preliminary investigation revealed that Caleb Holbert, a 22-year-old man from Russellville, was found unresponsive, partially in the roadway. Authorities determined that Holbert had been struck by an unidentified vehicle, which then fled the scene of the crash. A part from a Ford vehicle was located at the scene, leading investigators to believe the suspect vehicle may be of that make.
Holbert tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol, with assistance from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brown County Coroner’s Office, Russellville Fire Department & EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation, has closed the roadway for investigation. Detours have been set up in the area to redirect traffic.
