The University of New Hampshire Police Department has launched an investigation following the death of a student on Friday in what officials described as an apparent suicide.

In a brief statement released Friday afternoon, university police confirmed that officers responded to a report of an unresponsive individual on campus earlier in the day. The student was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the student’s name, pending notification of family members.
“The university community is deeply saddened by this loss,” a spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and all those affected during this difficult time.”
Counseling and psychological services have been made available to students, faculty, and staff as the university works to support those impacted by the tragedy.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing, though early findings indicate no signs of foul play. More details are expected to be released as the inquiry continues.
