The South Florida medical community is mourning the devastating loss of Dr. Mark A. Cereceda, Key Biscayne resident and the founder and principal owner of Ceda Orthopedic Group, who passed away from an apparent suicide.

Dr. Cereceda was a respected and compassionate physician, mentor, and leader whose work profoundly impacted the lives of countless patients and colleagues. Known for his dedication to quality care and his vision for accessible orthopedic and rehabilitation services, he built CEDA Health into one of the region’s leading healthcare networks.
In an official statement, 388CEDA confirmed Dr. Cereceda’s passing:
“It is with deep sadness that we confirm the unexpected passing of CEDA Health companies founder and owner Mark Cereceda. He was a visionary leader whose impact on CEDA Health and our community will endure.”
The company also announced that, in accordance with its established succession plan, CFO Vanessa Cereceda has been appointed Interim CEO, effective immediately.
“Over the last 17 years, Vanessa and Mark together built the CEDA Health infrastructure into the leading healthcare organization it is today,” the statement continued. “Our leadership team is fully empowered to ensure operational continuity for our clients and team. We do ask for privacy for Mark’s family and our team as we grieve.”
Dr. Cereceda’s colleagues remember him as not only an accomplished physician but also a generous mentor who supported his staff and inspired innovation in patient care. Friends and community members have expressed deep sorrow across social media, describing him as a man who “always put others first” and whose compassion left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
