The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body found south of Roswell on Friday, October 17, 2025, as Cheyenne Lewis Boldes, 34, who had been reported missing exactly one month earlier, on September 17.
Deputies were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a body discovered in a rural area south of Roswell. Upon arrival, investigators confirmed the individual was deceased and had been for an extended period. The area was secured, and the Criminal Investigations Division took over the case.
Undersheriff Charles Yslas stated that there were no immediate signs of trauma or injury to suggest an apparent cause of death. The department is awaiting toxicology results to determine how Boldes died.
Although there are currently no definitive signs of foul play, the Sheriff’s Office is treating the case as a homicide investigation until evidence proves otherwise — a standard procedure in unexplained death cases. Investigators have already executed at least one search warrant related to the inquiry.
The case remains active, and officials are asking for public assistance. Anyone with information about Cheyenne Boldes or the circumstances surrounding his death is urged to contact the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 575-624-6500.
