Atlanta Airport Incident: Man Arrested, AR-15–Style Rifle Recovered After Mass Shooting Threat

Authorities at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport arrested a man Monday morning after he allegedly made threats to “shoot up” the airport, according to police sources.

The Atlanta Police Department confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody without incident and that an AR-15–style rifle or similar firearm was recovered from his vehicle.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Investigators believe the threats were made during a video call with a family member, prompting an immediate response from airport security and law enforcement officers stationed at the terminal.

Police have not released the man’s name or age, and it remains unclear exactly where or when the alleged threats occurred. Authorities have also not confirmed whether the suspect had entered any terminal areas with a weapon.

No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

Atlanta Police said more details would be shared during a press conference scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, where officials are expected to address the circumstances of the arrest and the potential charges the suspect may face.

Hartsfield-Jackson, one of the busiest airports in the world, remained open and operational throughout the incident, though there were reports of heightened security measures and brief delays in some areas.

This story is developing and will be updated as more information becomes available.
