EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga — A 26-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning after a high-speed crash in Rincon resulted in his vehicle striking several buildings and ejecting him from the car, according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the crash happened just after midnight on Kolic Helmey Road. The driver, identified as Victory Lewis Mason of Port Wentworth, was traveling east in a Ford Mustang when he failed to stop at a stop sign, left the roadway, and crashed into multiple structures in a nearby residential area.
Authorities confirmed Mason was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.
Preliminary findings suggest that speed and alcohol may have played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
