SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

According to campus police, the shooting occurred around 3:40 a.m. at Carreker East residential hall, one of the on-campus dorms in Stillwater. Officers with the OSU Police Department responded after receiving reports from victims who had been shot.

Authorities confirmed that at least one of the victims is an Oklahoma State University student. All three wounded individuals were transported to hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.

Preliminary information suggests the victims had been attending an off-campus party late Saturday night before the gathering moved into the dorm early Sunday morning. It was during that transition, investigators say, that gunfire erupted inside the residence hall.

In a statement shared on the official OSU Police and Safety X (formerly Twitter) account, officials said,

“At approximately 3:40 a.m., the OSU Police Department responded to Carreker East residential hall after shooting victims reported the incident. There were multiple victims, one of which is known to be an OSU student. All are being treated at hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.”

OSU Chief of Police Michael Beckner said detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities have not released details about a suspect, possible motive, or the number of shots fired.

The university has not issued a lockdown order, but students were urged to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity as police continue their search for the person responsible.

The shooting comes during Oklahoma State’s homecoming weekend, one of the largest and most celebrated campus traditions in the nation, which typically draws thousands of students, alumni, and visitors to Stillwater.

University officials said they are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Counseling and crisis support services are being made available to students affected by the incident.

“This is a heartbreaking situation,” one university spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with those who were injured and their families as we come together as a community to support them.”

The investigation remains active, and police are asking anyone with information or video footage from the area around Carreker East between 3 and 4 a.m. to contact OSU Police at (405) 744-6523.
