Authorities are investigating after a 20-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night in Copiah County.
According to the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Copiah County Medical Center around 11:10 p.m. after receiving reports that a man suffering from a gunshot wound had been brought in for treatment.
When deputies arrived, they learned that the victim, identified as 20-year-old Decedric Stampley, had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Investigators have since launched a homicide investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. At this time, officials have not released details about a possible suspect or motive.
