William Wood Melbourne Obituary, Cause of Death: Family and friends tribute in loving memory of 16-year-old Scotch College Student, William Wood who dies by suicide

It is with the deepest sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of William “Will” Wood, a beloved student at Scotch College, who died by suicide on Thursday, 9th October 2025, at the age of just 16. Will was the cherished son of Stuart and Samantha and the treasured brother of Charlotte, Amelia, and Annabel. He was also deeply loved by his grandparents, Esther and Barry, on one side, and Tim and Pamon, on the other.

Will brought light and warmth to everyone he encountered. His presence was a beacon of kindness, wit, and quiet strength. At Scotch College, he was known for his bright spirit and the deep, unwavering resolve that defined him. To his family, Will was not only a son and a brother, but a confidant, a friend, and an endless source of laughter and love. His grandparents, too, treasured him dearly, taking immense pride in his achievements, supporting his dreams, and marveling at the kindness he brought into their lives.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

As we struggle to understand this heartbreaking loss, we find comfort in the small moments that defined Will’s life—the laughter he shared, the quiet gestures of care, and the promise of a future now left unfulfilled. The pain of losing Will is immeasurable, and it extends far beyond the walls of home and school, affecting all who knew him. Yet, within this sorrow, we hold on to the love he gave so freely, the memories he created, and the bond that will never be broken by death.

A service to honor Will’s life will take place on Thursday, 16th October 2025, at 1:30 pm at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, 81 Toorak Road, Toorak. All who knew Will and wish to support his family during this difficult time are warmly invited to attend.

May Will rest in peace. His memory will forever inspire hope, compassion, and care in all who mourn him. Our hearts are with Stuart, Samantha, Charlotte, Amelia, Annabel, Esther, Barry, Tim, Pamon, and all whose lives were touched by Will’s love and light. We will carry him with us in every act of kindness and in the depth of our shared grief.
