Sebastian Zar New York, NY Death: Esteemed Music and Entertainment Attorney Sebastian Zar, Esq., is Dead.

The music and entertainment world is mourning the tragic loss of Sebastian Zar, Esq., a highly respected music and entertainment attorney whose sharp legal mind, passion for artist empowerment, and entrepreneurial spirit made him a standout figure in the modern music industry. Mr. Zar passed away in 2025 at the age of 36.

A service in his memory was held today, October 14, 2025, at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, New York. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Fariba and Mehrdad Zar, his siblings James Zar and Kimberly Bloorian (Zar), and by countless friends, colleagues, and clients who admired his brilliance, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his work.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Born in 1989, Sebastian—known fondly as Seb—combined an exceptional intellect with a deep understanding of both the creative and business sides of music. His ability to navigate the evolving landscape of streaming and independent artistry helped shape the careers of numerous high-profile musicians.

A Trailblazer in Music Law
While attending Syracuse University College of Law, Sebastian discovered his calling in the intersection of law, music, and entrepreneurship. There, he began managing artists, laying the foundation for a career defined by passion, integrity, and innovation.

After earning his Juris Doctor, he founded his own law firm at just 26 years old, representing emerging artists and producers determined to maintain control over their art in a rapidly changing industry. His dedication and reputation for excellence soon earned him a place at Sedlmayr, a top entertainment law firm, where he represented a roster of celebrated clients including Post Malone and Pusha T.

Zar was widely known for his ability to adapt to the modern music economy, advocating for artist independence and financial literacy. In an earlier interview, he explained his approach:

“In the streaming age, a lot of these young artists don’t want a label deal,” Zar said. “I’m willing to put on as many hats as necessary to get them to where they want to be.”

His work helped redefine what it means to be a music lawyer in the digital era—combining legal expertise, business strategy, and a manager’s instinct for artist development.

A Scholar and Leader
Before attending law school, Sebastian earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Seton Hall University, where he was a dynamic and engaged leader. His campus involvement reflected his natural drive to lead and uplift others. He served as:

President and Co-Founder, Jewish Student Union
President, St. Thomas More Pre-Law Society
Parliamentarian and At-Large Senator, Student Government Association
President, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity
President, Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society
Co-Founder and Vice President, Political Science Student Association
At Syracuse University College of Law, he continued his commitment to student leadership and community involvement as a Member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and as Representative for the Entertainment and Sports Law Society during both his 1L and 2L years.

Sebastian’s early years were spent at MEF International High School and Great Neck North High School, where his intellectual curiosity and leadership qualities first began to shine.

Remembering a Brilliant Mind and Kind Heart
Beyond his achievements, Sebastian will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and deep compassion. Those who knew him speak of a man whose brilliance was matched only by his generosity—a trusted mentor, loyal friend, and devoted son and brother.

His colleagues describe him as someone who approached every deal and every client with heart, humility, and purpose. “Seb wasn’t just a lawyer,” one industry peer said. “He was a builder of dreams—someone who made others believe in their potential.”
