The Burbank Police Department is investigating a tragic incident after multiple family members were found dead inside an apartment in Los Angeles County on Friday evening in what authorities are calling an apparent murder-suicide.
Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on South Lockwood Avenue shortly after 6:00 p.m. following a report of gunshots and concern for the welfare of the residents. When police arrived, they discovered several individuals deceased inside the home.
According to a statement from the Burbank Police Department, preliminary evidence indicates the incident was a murder–suicide, and investigators are not looking for any additional suspects at this time. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Detectives and crime scene investigators remained at the scene late into the night gathering evidence and interviewing neighbors. Residents of the typically quiet neighborhood expressed shock and sadness at the devastating news.
“This is a heartbreaking situation,” said a Burbank Police spokesperson. “Our thoughts are with the family members and loved ones affected by this tragedy.”
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation as authorities work to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal shootings.
