According to police, officers responded around 9:15 p.m. on October 5 after reports that two pedestrians had been struck. When they arrived, they found one victim deceased and another suffering from severe injuries.

Investigators determined that the pedestrians’ vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler, had run out of fuel and was stopped on the roadway with its hazard lights on. While the pedestrians were refueling, a southbound Dodge 1500 struck both of them before crashing into the rear of the Jeep, causing extensive damage.

The deceased victim has been identified as Eman Rpn, 27, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The second pedestrian, 27-year-old Olivia Pope, was transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital with serious injuries. Two juvenile passengers who were inside the Dodge at the time of the crash were also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge, 32-year-old John Boyd, was arrested at the scene after field sobriety tests were administered. Boyd is charged with DUI, Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Assault, two counts of Child Endangerment, and other related offenses. He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
