In Loving Memory of Ashley and Stephen Williams

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of Ashley and Stephen Williams, both 37, who lost their lives in a devastating house fire early Sunday morning in Keswick.

According to Albemarle County Fire Rescue (ACFR), crews were dispatched at approximately 7:09 a.m. on October 5, 2025, to a home on Starry Sky Lane following reports of a structure fire. Police officers arrived within two minutes to find heavy smoke billowing from the second floor of the two-story residence, where a neighbor was desperately attempting to help locate the residents inside.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Fire crews arrived shortly after and immediately began rescue efforts, providing medical care and battling the flames. Inside the home were four family members — Ashley and Stephen Williams, and their two children. Tragically, both Ashley and Stephen were transported to UVA Hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.

Their two young children were rescued from the home — one was airlifted to VCU Hospital in critical condition, while the other was taken to UVA Hospital for treatment. Sadly, the family’s beloved dog also perished in the fire.

Investigators from the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office have determined the fire to be accidental. The Fire Marshal’s Office is working closely with the American Red Cross and Albemarle County Public Schools to ensure that the surviving family members and the school community receive emotional and logistical support during this heartbreaking time.

Ashley and Stephen Williams were known for their warmth, kindness, and devotion to their family. Their love for their children and their community was evident to everyone who knew them. Their passing leaves behind a deep void and an outpouring of grief from all whose lives they touched.

Albemarle County Fire Rescue is reminding residents of the importance of having and maintaining working smoke alarms. Anyone needing help installing or testing alarms—or those unable to afford one—can reach out to ACFR through their Smoke Alarm Program for free assistance.

As Albemarle County mourns this unimaginable loss, our hearts and prayers remain with the Williams family and their loved ones. May Ashley and Stephen rest in eternal peace, and may their children find comfort and strength in the love that surrounds them.
