SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), officers were called to a residence on 116th Road near 155th Street shortly before midnight on Friday, October 3, following reports of gunfire. When they arrived, police discovered Prince McFarlane, 37, dead inside the home with gunshot wounds, and his older cousin, Antoine, 41, suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Antoine was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. A firearm was recovered at the scene near his body.

Family Dispute Over Home Sale
Family members told investigators that the fatal incident stemmed from a disagreement over the sale of the family home, a blue-sided, two-bedroom house owned by Antoine’s mother. The property had reportedly been listed for sale about a month earlier, with an asking price of approximately $600,000.

According to the victims’ 62-year-old uncle, who lives in the basement of the house, Antoine was overseeing the sale, while McFarlane was assisting him. The two men allegedly clashed over how proceeds from the sale would be divided.

“It had something to do with the sale of the house,” the uncle said. “It was something to do with the distribution of money.”

Hours Inside Before the Shooting
Authorities believe Antoine may have been inside the home with his cousin’s body for several hours before taking his own life.

The uncle, who returned home around 11:45 p.m., said he was accompanied by McFarlane’s longtime partner, who had been waiting outside in her car since 6:30 p.m. after she was unable to reach him.

“She said his truck is here and I haven’t heard from him since 11 a.m.,” said a neighbor. “The truck had been there since around noon.”

When the uncle and the woman entered the darkened home, they discovered McFarlane’s body near the living room doorway.

“She sees him. She screams. She starts crying,” the uncle recounted. “He wasn’t moving. He must’ve been there a while.”

Fearing Antoine was still inside and armed, the uncle pulled the woman out of the house. Moments later, he heard a single gunshot from upstairs.

“When his body fell, it sounded like he was coming down the stairs,” the uncle said. “We ran out to the driveway and I called 911.”

Neighbors Recall Hearing Gunfire
At least one neighbor reported hearing what they believed to be a gunshot around 3 p.m., hours before police were notified. Investigators have not yet confirmed the exact timing of the shootings.
