The community at Belfast Metropolitan College is grieving the loss of Stephen O’Hanlon, a much-respected teacher who passed away suddenly on October 1, 2025.
Mr. O’Hanlon was widely admired as a dedicated educator and colleague, and will be deeply missed by both his students and fellow staff. Beyond his work in education, he was a devoted family man — a beloved husband to Geraldine, cherished father of Stephanie, Patrick, and Katie, and proud grandfather to Darcy, Jack, and Jacob.
Funeral arrangements have been confirmed by the family. Mr. O’Hanlon will repose at his late home from Friday, October 3, with visiting hours from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, October 6 at St. Gerard’s Church, Antrim Road, beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by burial at Greencastle Cemetery.
His family offered a heartfelt tribute, saying: “A silent thought, a quiet prayer, for someone special in God’s care.”
