It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic loss of Marcus Knight, 17, of Trumansburg, who was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Hector, Schuyler County, on September 29, 2025. The accident occurred around 11:46 a.m. on County Road No. 1, when the 2010 Ford Fusion he was riding in failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and struck several trees.
The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Michael Blake of Ithaca, was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with serious injuries and remains hospitalized. Marcus, sadly, was pronounced dead at the scene.
First responders, including the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, Trumansburg and Enfield Fire Departments, Trumansburg Ambulance, and the New York State Police accident reconstruction team, worked diligently at the scene. The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash to determine the contributing factors.
Marcus Knight will be remembered as a vibrant young man whose life was tragically cut short. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him, and may he rest in peace.
