The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is actively investigating a fatal crash in Ferndale that claimed the life of 20-year-old Malakhi Moreau on Sunday night, September 28.
Authorities said the collision happened around 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of Mountain View and Olson Roads when a car struck a motorcycle. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Moreau, a Ferndale resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Whatcom County Medical Examiner confirmed his identity and ruled his death accidental.
Two people inside the car sustained serious injuries and were transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham. Another motorcyclist was also injured and taken to the hospital.
The WCSO has not released additional details regarding the cause of the crash, but investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the tragic collision. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
