BEDFORD, Ohio – Two people are in critical condition after a shooting Monday morning near Central Primary School in Bedford, officials confirmed.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Washington Street near Solon Road. Bedford firefighters say both victims, identified as adults, were transported to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Police responded quickly to the scene and took a suspect into custody nearby. Authorities said the suspect was also injured and was transported to a separate hospital for treatment.
The shooting prompted heightened concern due to its close proximity to Central Primary School. Officials confirmed, however, that no students or staff were involved in the incident.
Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting. As of now, no further details about the victims or the suspect have been released.
The Bedford Police Department is continuing its investigation, and additional updates are expected.
