Southport mass shooting suspect Nigel Max Edge charged with 13 felonies including first-degree murder and attempted murder
SOUTHPORT, N.C. – Authorities have arrested Nigel Max Edge, 40, of Oak Island, in connection with the deadly mass shooting late Saturday night at the American Fish Company in Southport that left three people dead and several others injured.
According to court documents, Edge faces a staggering 13 felony charges, including:
Three counts of first-degree murder
Five counts of attempted first-degree murder
Five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury
Investigators say Edge used a short-barrel AR-style rifle outfitted with a suppressor, folding stock, and scope during the attack. The violent outburst sent chaos through the Southport Yacht Basin, forcing terrified patrons to flee as gunfire erupted.
Edge was taken into custody and is currently being held without bond at the Brunswick County Jail.
Search warrants list Edge’s home address on NW 10th Street in Oak Island. Google images of the property from 2025 show a boat with the name “Game On” painted on the side. A boat spotted at the Southport shooting scene appears to match the same vessel, fueling further links between Edge and the crime.
This remains a developing story, with investigators continuing to examine possible motives, background details, and connections between the suspect and the victims.
