It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of 25-year-old Jawan Tyree Bates, who lost his life in a fatal shooting in Cincinnati’s Evanston neighborhood on September 26, 2025.
According to police, officers responded to the area of Montgomery Road and Brewster Avenue just before 8 p.m. Friday night. Shortly after, Jawan arrived at University Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, he passed away from his injuries.
Jawan’s death has left his family, friends, and community in shock and deep grief. Known for his warm personality and caring heart, he was a young man whose future held so much promise. His life was taken far too soon, leaving behind unanswered questions and a void that cannot be filled.
The Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to bring justice for Jawan and his loved ones.
As his family mourns this devastating loss, they ask for privacy, prayers, and support from the community during this incredibly difficult time.
