The Hamshire-Fannett and Fannett communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jayleigh Danielle Moralez, a beloved daughter, classmate, and friend who passed away on Sunday at the age of 18.
Jayleigh, a senior at Hamshire-Fannett High School, was known for her kindness, infectious laughter, and the joy she brought to those around her. Friends, classmates, and teammates describe her as someone who left an indelible mark on their lives through every smile, every conversation, and every shared memory.
In a message of remembrance, loved ones wrote: “Today our hearts are heavy as we grieve the loss of our dear classmate, our sister, our friend, Jayleigh Danielle Moralez. You blessed us with her presence in this world, and she became such an important part of our lives. Lord, even though her time with us feels far too short, we recognize that her life was a gift—a beautiful gift that reflected your love.”
Jayleigh was a standout athlete and the catcher for the Hamshire-Fannett Varsity Softball team. Her teammates and coaches remember her as both a fierce competitor and a compassionate leader.
The Hamshire-Fannett Athletic Booster Club shared a tribute, saying: “Jayleigh was more than just an incredible athlete—she was a leader, a teammate, and a friend whose presence lit up the field and the lives of everyone who knew her. Behind the plate, she showed courage, grit, and determination. Off the field, she showed kindness, laughter, and a smile that will never be forgotten. She embodied the true spirit of what it means to be a Ladyhorn.”
The Gladiators Softball program also honored her memory, writing: “It’s a tough day to be a Glad. We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of one of our own.
