Greenville County authorities responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Sunday morning that blocked part of I-85 Southbound near mile marker 51 around 12:30 a.m.

According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the crash involved a motorcycle and another vehicle. The motorcyclist, later identified by family as Calvin Chett McCoppin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers have not yet released details regarding the circumstances that led to the crash.
McCoppin, a resident of Abbeville, South Carolina, was originally from Antreville, South Carolina. He attended Dixie High School in Due West and studied at Piedmont Technical College. He worked as a customer service specialist at All National Insurance.
Authorities have not confirmed the condition of the other vehicle’s driver or any contributing factors to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office and local law enforcement have asked anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
