Puryear, TN — The auctioneering world is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Junior Staggs, a widely respected and beloved figure in the industry who passed away unexpectedly.
Known for his infectious energy, rapid-fire chant, and unwavering commitment to mentoring the next generation of auctioneers, Junior was much more than just a voice behind the mic—he was a community builder, a teacher, and a friend to many.
Born and raised in Collinwood, Tennessee, Junior attended Collinwood High School before going on to study Mass Communication at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
His early interest in performance, communication, and connection would later find its perfect home in the world of auctioneering, where he would build a lasting legacy. Based in Puryear, TN, Junior wore many hats—and wore them well.
He was the proud Owner and Founder of Bid Calling Boot Camp with Junior Staggs, a training ground for aspiring auctioneers seeking to hone their skills and gain confidence in their craft.
He also served as President of Auctioneer University, and was the driving force behind popular educational and entertainment ventures such as Junior Staggs and Friends: LIVE and Building YOUR Bid Calling Chant with Junior Staggs.
Through these platforms, Junior inspired countless individuals, sharing not only his techniques and tools but also his deep belief in the auctioneer’s role as storyteller, entertainer, and connector. Whether in person or online, his teachings were fueled by passion, humor, and authenticity.
In addition to his work as an educator, Junior was the Owner and CEO of Red Ball Auction Team and Bid Last and Win, where he brought his signature energy to auctions across the region. Known for his fast-paced chant, charming delivery, and ability to engage any crowd, Junior elevated every event he was part of.
But perhaps what set Junior apart most was not just his success, but his heart. He was a generous mentor, a loyal friend, and a devoted husband. Married to Katie Staggs, Junior often spoke of how much she meant to him, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the auctioneering community. Tributes have poured in from fellow professionals, students, and fans who credit Junior with inspiring their careers and giving them the confidence to step behind the mic. “Junior didn’t just teach people how to bid call,” one student wrote, “he taught us how to believe in ourselves.”
His legacy will live on in the voices of those he trained, the lives he touched, and the countless auctions he made memorable. His passion for the craft, his commitment to excellence, and his enthusiasm for helping others will not be forgotten.
Junior Staggs is survived by his wife, Katie, and an extended community of auctioneers, friends, students, and admirers who will forever be grateful for the time they had with him.
The world has lost a gifted voice, a generous mentor, and a remarkable human being. But the echoes of his chant and the lessons he shared will continue to ring out for years to come.
