A man in his 70s has died following a drowning incident in Skerries on Saturday morning.
The tragedy unfolded around 10 a.m. when the man got into difficulty in the water. Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene, and rescue crews removed the man from the water.
Despite their efforts, he was later pronounced dead. His body has been taken to Dublin City Morgue, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that a file will be prepared for the coroner and that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The man’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
