A 28-year-old Belleview man was killed late Friday night when his Corvette ran off the road and struck a tree in Lake County, authorities said.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report, Jason Myers was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette northbound on County Road 439 near Live Oak Ranch Road, east of Umatilla, when he veered off the roadway. The vehicle went airborne before crashing into a tree.
Myers, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 29-year-old passenger from Crestview, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local trauma center. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
FHP said the exact time of the crash has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
Myers was a graduate of Florida State Fire College, lived in Lake City, Florida, and was originally from Citrus Hills.
