Authorities are investigating the shocking death of 27-year-old Declan Perry of Portland, Maine, whose body was found over the weekend in a car parked at South Shore Hospital in Scituate, Massachusetts.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office confirmed on Monday that Perry was found unresponsive, wrapped in multiple blankets and secured with duct tape in the back seat of a vehicle outside the hospital’s emergency room.

At approximately 2:07 p.m. on Saturday, hospital staff alerted Weymouth Police after noticing a “possibly deceased body” in the rear seat of a car parked near the emergency entrance.

According to the DA’s office, the hospital coordinator approached the vehicle, a 2019 black Honda Civic with a Maine license plate, and found Perry “wrapped in multiple blankets secured with duct tape.”

Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at about 2:15 p.m., confirming a tragic end to what authorities are now treating as a suspicious death. Following the discovery, residents of a nearby condominium complex along the Driftway contacted Scituate Police after seeing local news coverage of the incident.

The residents reported having witnessed a related event earlier that day. They told authorities that they observed a man loading a large, heavy blanket into the black Honda Civic at their neighbor’s residence.

This information has been crucial to the ongoing investigation and led police to obtain a search warrant for the residence. Several items of evidence were seized from the location, which authorities say are being analyzed as part of the inquiry.
