The Perry County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Everett Bates, 17, whose life was tragically cut short on Sunday, August 24, while on his way to pick up his girlfriend for church.
Everett was more than a student at Lewis County High School—he was a son, a friend, and a young man with a bright future ahead. Known for his warm heart, his sense of humor, and the joy he carried with him, Everett touched the lives of many around him. He was deeply loved by his family, cherished by his friends, and admired by classmates and teachers alike.
His passing has left an emptiness that words cannot fully capture, but his memory will live on in the countless moments of laughter, kindness, and love that he shared. Friends and fellow students honored him with a balloon release at Lewis County High School, a reminder that while Everett may no longer walk among us, his spirit will always rise higher, carried in the hearts of all who knew him.
