DETROIT – A tragic and deeply unsettling act of violence unfolded Friday morning inside Henry Ford Hospital’s main campus in Detroit, where police say a 65-year-old man fatally shot his ex-wife during a confrontation.
According to Detroit Police, the shooting occurred just after 9 a.m. inside the medical facility, shocking staff and patients who were present at the time. The victim, a hospital employee in her 40s whose name has not yet been publicly released, was reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation with the suspect moments before the gunfire erupted.
Authorities have identified the alleged shooter as Ford Mario Green, a 65-year-old resident of Bloomfield Hills. Police said Green fled the scene immediately after the shooting and remains at large. Law enforcement agencies have launched an urgent manhunt to track him down, warning the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Hospital officials confirmed the incident in a brief statement, expressing sorrow over the devastating loss. “We are heartbroken by today’s tragedy,” a Henry Ford Health spokesperson said. “Our immediate priority is supporting our team members, patients, and the family of our colleague whose life was taken in this senseless act of violence. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation.”
Police sources indicated that the victim and Green were previously married but had been divorced for some time.
