SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Ozmen, who ran a local social club in Hackney and was known for his involvement in community life, was discovered with fatal gunshot wounds on Dynevor Road shortly after midnight. Emergency services, including paramedics and police, responded quickly, but despite their best efforts, Ozmen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Residents of the usually calm neighbourhood were jolted awake by the sound of gunfire and screams. Witnesses described chaos as officers flooded the area, sealing off Dynevor Road and parts of nearby Stoke Newington High Street.

Though the Metropolitan Police have not confirmed a motive, early speculation among locals suggests the possibility of gang-related violence. However, investigators have emphasized that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, with no immediate threat to the wider public.

Detectives are currently reviewing CCTV footage, conducting house-to-house inquiries, and appealing to anyone with information to come forward. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning.

Erdal Ozmen was not only a well-known club owner but also worked as a gym instructor at the London School of Economics and Social Science, and had previously held managerial roles in various London-based businesses. Friends and acquaintances described him as hardworking, family-oriented, and deeply proud of his Kurdish heritage.

“He was a kind and decent man who cared deeply for his family and his community,” one friend said. “This is a senseless tragedy that has left so many of us heartbroken.”

Ozmen is survived by his wife and two children. Community members have begun placing floral tributes near the scene of the shooting, and vigils are being planned in the coming days to honour his memory.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police or report anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

If you or someone you know is affected by violence or trauma, support is available through local mental health services and helplines.
