The Addison community and the regional racing world are mourning the untimely passing of Michael Duritsky Jr., 28, who died Wednesday evening following a two-vehicle crash along Route 40 in Fayette County.
Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker said his office was called to the scene on Route 40 east, just outside of Hopewood, shortly before 7 p.m. Duritsky, a resident of Addison, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle involved was unharmed. Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the incident, and officials have not confirmed whether a tractor-trailer observed at the scene was involved.
Michael Duritsky Jr. was well known and deeply respected in the racing community as a competitor in the RUSH Late Model Series. Nicknamed “Mad Dog,” he earned two career victories at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (PPMS). While his accomplishments on the track were notable, those who knew him say his impact went far beyond racing.
Every interaction with Michael was remembered as uplifting, marked by genuine smiles and kindness. Friends, fellow drivers, and fans say it was a true privilege to know him, and the moments shared with him and his race team will be forever cherished.
Michael leaves behind his wife, Jenna, and their daughter, Ryleigh, along with a loving family and countless friends. The Addison community joins the racing world in extending heartfelt condolences and prayers to all who are grieving this profound loss.
