The Mount Arlington community is mourning the devastating loss of one of its own. Diego Escobar, a proud U.S. Army Veteran and a recently sworn-in firefighter with the Mount Arlington Fire Department, tragically passed away in a motor vehicle accident.

Escobar, who joined the Mount Arlington Fire Department earlier this year, had recently completed the rigorous training required to serve as a firefighter. Known for his unwavering commitment, leadership, and service, Escobar brought with him the discipline and integrity of his military background, having served honorably as a squad leader in the Army.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Diego Escobar,” the Mount Arlington Fire Department shared in an official statement. “Diego joined our department this year and completed the requirements of Firefighter training. We are saddened by this news and are asking for prayers for his family during this difficult time. Godspeed, Brother, we have it from here.”
Escobar’s sudden passing leaves behind a grieving family, including his six-month-old daughter. Fellow firefighters, veterans, and members of the community are coming together to support the family during this heartbreaking time.
“We lost a brother, a leader, and a friend,” one colleague shared. “Diego embodied service and selflessness. He protected our nation, and he was just beginning his journey protecting our community.”
