A tiny town in Australia is in shock following the murder of a mother of six by her partner, who then took his own life.

Police discovered the bodies of 41-year-old Shafeeqa Husseini and her 47-year-old husband, Mirza, in a home on Melvyn St in Bordertown, located around 270km southeast of Adelaide, during a welfare check just after 11pm on Sunday.

The man killed his wife and then took his own life, as confirmed by SA Police. In a conversation with reporters on Monday, Acting Assistant Commissioner Cath Hilliard stated that Mr Husseini was familiar with police “due to an earlier domestic violence incident this year, which involved the deceased woman.”

“Nonetheless, there were no existing court-ordered limitations concerning the individuals stopping any communication between the pair,” she stated.

Authorities reported that the couple’s six kids were not present during the incident.

Ms. Hilliard stated that a family member initiated the welfare check after having communicated with the couple throughout the day and then losing touch. Acting Assistant Commissioner Cath Hilliard stated that Mr. Husseini was recognized by police “due to a prior domestic violence incident earlier this year, which involved the deceased woman.”

“Nonetheless, there were no existing court-imposed limitations regarding the individuals that barred any communication between the pair,” she stated.

Authorities reported that the couple’s six kids were absent during the event.
