The Burwood and wider Australian football community is united in grief following the tragic loss of Josh Davis, a talented young athlete whose life ended suddenly in an accident. Josh, an Australian Football League player and a student at Caulfield Grammar School, was known not only for his ability on the field but also for the character, warmth, and dedication he brought to everyone around him.
Josh was a much-loved member of the Caulfield Grammarians Football Club, where his commitment to the game and his teammates was evident in every training session and match. Teammates remember him as someone who played with heart, determination, and a genuine love for football. His presence in the playing group lifted spirits, strengthened bonds, and embodied the values of teamwork and respect that the club holds dear.
Beyond football, Josh was admired for his kindness and humility. Friends describe him as approachable, thoughtful, and always willing to support others, whether on the field, at school, or in everyday life. As a Caulfield Grammar School student, he balanced academics and sports with maturity well beyond his years, earning the respect of teachers and peers alike. His positive attitude and quiet leadership left a lasting impression across both communities.
The Caulfield Grammarians Football Club shared its deep sorrow in a public statement, expressing heartfelt condolences to Josh’s family and acknowledging the profound impact he had on the club. Messages of remembrance and support have continued to flow from teammates, coaches, classmates, and members of the broader football community, all reflecting on the bright future that lay ahead for him and the void his absence has created.
A service to celebrate Josh’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, at Bunurong Memorial Park, located at 790 Frankston-Dandenong Road in Dandenong South. The service is open to all and will also be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person. Attendees have been asked to avoid wearing black, honoring Josh’s vibrant spirit, and to refrain from bringing flowers. Instead, donations are encouraged to Beyond Blue or the Black Dog Institute, supporting mental health initiatives in his memory.
