Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to a serious incident reported Sunday at a five-star luxury resort in Aruba, where a newly married couple was found dead in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide.
According to preliminary information, police and multiple ambulance units were dispatched to The St. Regis Aruba Resort, located at J.E. Irausquin Blvd. 75 E, following a report of a person who had jumped from an upper floor of the hotel. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had died at the scene after falling from the 12th floor. Authorities indicated the man succumbed to his injuries upon impact.
Investigators then searched the couple’s hotel room, where they discovered the body of an adult female. Police reported that she had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. No other injuries were reported, and there was no indication of additional suspects involved at this time.
Officials said the couple had checked into the resort for their honeymoon after being married earlier in the weekend. Their identities have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
As a precaution, investigating officers closed the hotel’s swimming pool area and restricted access to portions of the property connected to the incident. Guests were asked to avoid affected areas while the investigation continues.
