MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Mishawaka community is mourning the loss of Dustin Abraham Sr., who was identified by police as the man found deceased early Tuesday morning in a parking lot on the city’s north side. He was 39 years old.

Officers with the Mishawaka Police Department were dispatched just before 5:30 a.m. to the area of North Logan Street and West Marion Street following a report of a body discovered outdoors. Police said they located Abraham in the parking lot of Artistic Hair at approximately 5:45 a.m., where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities confirmed that family members were already aware of Abraham’s passing and had contacted the department to alert officers to his location and identity. Their cooperation helped investigators quickly confirm who he was during the early stages of the response.

“Just want to let everyone know our staff is safe,” the statement read. “At Artistic Hair we don’t condone this violence but can assure that Artistic Hair is still a safe place and we are working with the Mishawaka police with our cameras. We cannot give details but this morning we are not able to work as they investigate.”
