LOS ANGELES — Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, has been arrested and formally charged in connection with the deaths of his parents, authorities confirmed Monday. Reiner is being held in the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department, according to booking records, on $4 million bail. The victims, Rob Reiner, 78, the son of legendary comedian Carl Reiner, and Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found deceased Sunday afternoon inside their Brentwood residence on Chadbourne Avenue.

Investigators later confirmed that one of the couple’s daughters discovered the bodies and contacted authorities.
Detectives are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether an argument or other domestic dispute may have preceded the violence. Officials have not publicly disclosed a motive, nor have they released detailed information regarding the sequence of events leading up to the deaths.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody and booked at an LAPD facility. Rob Reiner, the son of Carl Reiner, began his career as a writer in the 1960s before rising to prominence as an actor on All in the Family, earning two Primetime Emmy Awards. He later became one of Hollywood’s most influential directors, helming classics including This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, A Few Good Men, The American President, and The Bucket List. He also appeared in recent television roles on New Girl and The Bear.
Rob and Michele Reiner married in 1989 and shared more than three decades together. They are survived by their children Jake Reiner, Nick Reiner, and Romy Reiner, as well as Rob Reiner’s daughter Tracy Reiner from his first marriage to director Penny Marshall.
