TIFFIN, Ohio — Police on Thursday released new details in the murder–suicide that left four people dead on Huss Street, identifying 42-year-old Ryan Eagon — the husband of the children’s mother — as the man investigators say fatally shot two young children and another man before killing himself.
According to the updated release from the Tiffin Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:24 PM Wednesday to the 100 block of Huss Street for a report of shots fired and screaming. When they arrived, officers found multiple individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The investigation determined that the incident occurred as the mother of two children was removing belongings from the residence due to ongoing domestic issues. Arrangements had been made with Dustin Willey, 29, the father of her older child, to help her move out while her husband, Eagon, was believed to be working out of town.
Police said the mother and Willey were inside the home gathering items while the children — a 7-year-old and a 7-month-old — were outside near a vehicle. After hearing the older child cry out, they went outside and saw Eagon in the driveway.
Based on evidence and witness statements, investigators said Eagon immediately chased Willey, pushing past the mother and firing multiple shots. He then turned the gun on the children, fatally shooting both before directing additional gunfire at Willey. Eagon then took his own life with a single gunshot wound.

The mother told officers she carried the injured children back into the residence before law enforcement arrived. Tiffin Police, along with Tiffin Fire & Rescue, provided aid at the scene and transported Willey to Mercy Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The 7-month-old infant and Eagon were pronounced dead at the residence. The 7-year-old child was transported to the hospital and later died.
Police emphasized that no officers discharged their weapons, and no law enforcement personnel were injured.
The mother was present during the incident and was the person who reported the emergency. Her name is not being released under Marsy’s Law protections, and police asked the public and media to respect her privacy.
The Tiffin Police Department said the investigation remains active with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Seneca County Coroner’s Office. Autopsies are pending, and no additional identifying information about the children will be released.
In a statement, the department acknowledged the profound impact the tragedy has had on the families involved, first responders, medical staff, schools, and the broader community, noting that grief support resources are being coordinated.
