Man accused of shooting another car while driving in NE Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man accused of shooting at another car while driving in northeast Albuquerque faced a judge for the first time Wednesday.
Police allege Martin Maldonado got into a fight with another driver on San Mateo Boulevard earlier this month near The Grill restaurant. Maldonado allegedly told police the people in the other car were yelling at him, causing him to fear for his safety.
Investigators said he admitted to shooting at the other car “once or twice.” A bullet hit the other driver in the head, possibly blinding him for life.
Prosecutors want Maldonado to stay in jail until his trial after arresting him Tuesday.
