Ashlie Gray, a cherished member of Harlem Heights, has passed away unexpectedly, leaving an immense void in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.

A proud alumna of Marymount Manhattan College, Ashlie carried her education and experiences into everything she did, embracing opportunities to connect with others, foster creativity, and make a positive impact in her community.

This sentiment was echoed during her funeral service, which celebrated her life through heartfelt tributes, music, and stories, reflecting the spirit and unity of the Harlem community she loved so dearly.
Ashlie’s joy was infectious, her kindness boundless, and her memory will continue to resonate with everyone privileged enough to have known her. Born and raised in South Orange, New Jersey, Ashlie maintained close relationships with her family, who were central to her life.
She is survived by her loving mother, Lynne Hawkins McDaniel; her aunts, Suzanne Descanvelle and Mary Gray; cousins, LoDown White and Olivia Descanvelle; and other cherished family members, Ericka Hunter and Devin Benson.
Each remembers her for her generosity, laughter, and genuine care for others—qualities that defined her daily life. Ashlie had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel seen and valued, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
