During an attempted cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery in Rustenburg, a shootout broke out between security officers and two suspected robbers. One suspect was struck in the leg during the exchange of gunfire. According to early reports, instead of surrendering, the injured suspect turned the weapon on himself, resulting in his death at the scene.
His accomplice managed to escape amid the chaos and is currently being sought by authorities. Police have opened an investigation and are reviewing evidence to identify and locate the second suspect.
