14-year-old in critical condition after shooting in Flint

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – A 14-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot while walking through Howard Estates on Flint’s south side on Tuesday evening.

The shooting was reported around 7:10 p.m. in the apartment complex located in the 1800 block of Lapeer Road between Howard Avenue and 12th Street.

Flint Chief Terence Green said the teenager was shot in the hand and leg by an unknown suspect and taken to Hurley Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Tuesday night.

Authorities did not release any information about the suspect or a possible motive for the shooting Wednesday morning.

Investigators deployed K-9 teams to search the area for a suspect. The Flint Major Case Unit, which includes the Flint Police Department and Michigan State Police, is leading the investigation.
